Interfaith Harmony
Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni has been honored with National Communal Harymony Award 2010 for his outstanding contribution in the field of Interfaith Harmony and Communal Harmony. Acharyashree through welfare organization Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti has been making efforts to establish interfaith harmony by conducting padyatras, peace and harmony tours in India and abroad, organized seminars, workshops.
Communal harmony refers to the harmony that exists within a community or a group. The relationship between communities such as this is smooth and grows to greater heights if sustained well. Fear, suspicion and hatred should not be left to rule a community as this brings about communal disharmony. A community divided is a nation divided. A community united is a nation enlighten. Peace is an essential criterion for development. Harmony is about co-existence that means live and let live. It is a way forward towards peace and perhaps prosperity, both urgently required in a world of growing political and economic dissonance.
Acharyashree has been promoting understanding between different religions to increase acceptance of others. His philosophy strengthens the autonomy of thought of every individual. If you perceive every being as a thinking individual, you will not trample on his or her thoughts and emotions. We must respect the beliefs of others as much as we respect our own beliefs. His philosophy states that no single perspective on an issue contains the whole truth.
Inter-faith harmony is a conceivable condition, signifying peaceful co-existence among practitioners of various religious beliefs, aimed at eliminating the possibility of discord, violent or non-violent.
Such a condition calls for a global level of understanding that all religions are mutually acceptable per se in terms of their basic tenets as well as manifestations in human behavior along with all ramifications of traditions and their evolution to the contemporary life.
Overall the aim of this harmony is to derive a common ground “belief through a concentration on similarities between faiths, understanding of values, and commitment to the world.” It is the promotion of the understanding between various religions to enhance acceptance of each other.
Numerous attempts have been made world wide by countless peace loving people at interfaith meetings to bring interfaith harmony to planet Earth but despite these wonderful efforts the religious wars continue to rage on. Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni says we must respect others point of view along with our views. No single perspective on an issue contains the whole truth. He believes that violence is not a solution to any problem Peace through Dialogue is an effective way to bring harmony between different communities, sects and religions.
